We’re all searching for true happiness. Sometimes it’s so difficult to find it. We can’t see past the darkness, but the light will always shine through. Maybe not at the moment you want it to, but when the time is right it will.
I’ve had a four-day weekend (it’s been so bitter cold; -35 degrees with the windchill. Gotta love Chicago weather). Having this much time off is so bittersweet. It’s great to have a nice, long break but it can also get a bit boring and that’s when your mind starts to wander about anything and everything. It’s a terrible thing to be stuck in that state of mind. You never know where your mind is headed. Since my mind is prone to overthinking about every little thing, I decided that I was going to put a stop to the negativity and find the positivity. I’ll admit, it’s been a while since I’ve practiced yoga and also meditation. It’s gotten so far away from me and I’ve just pushed it off. I know it’s benefited me in the past, so I decided to give it another shot. I found a sequence by Kathryn Budig, which I just love. She’s an international yoga instructor and author and she’s simply a prodigy. I highly recommend finding sequences that she’s designed.
I started practicing both my yoga sequence and my meditation both first thing in the morning and in the evening. Practicing twice at these certain times guarantees to put a smile on your face and to rejuvenate you in the morning and to calm you down and relax you in the evening. For the past three days I’ve committed to this schedule and I’ve felt better than I have in a long time. More positive about my current situation — not worrying so much about what can happen, go wrong, or feeling stuck. I feel more elated and relaxed. If this outcome has affected me in only three days, I can only imagine how changed my life will be if I stick to it.
I write this post in hopes that you will try this technique. We’re all searching to be inspired and to elevate our mood. I believe the practice of yoga and meditation will help you achieve greatness in every possible way. Start out small with a short 10 minute yoga sequence and a 10 minute meditation practice and work your way up when you’re feeling ready for the challenge. You’ll feel moved and eager to begin each day.
Good luck, my fellow yogi’s! Namaste.
“We’ve become so numb to what we’re sayin’. Our culture founded from oppression yet we don’t have acceptance for ’em. Call each other faggots behind the keys of a message board. A word rooted in hate yet our genre still ignores it. Gay is synonymous with the lesser. It’s the same hate that’s caused wars from religion. Gender to skin color. Complexion of your pigment. The same fight that lead people to walk-outs and sit-ins. Human rights for everybody. There is no difference. Live on! And be yourself!” Macklemore feat. Ryan Lewis – “Same Love”
I don’t know how many of you watched the Grammy’s tonight, but it was one great award show. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ “Same Love” was just so moving. I know there’s a lot of controversy with gay rights/gay marriage, but I just don’t see the reason for it. We get so worked up about major changes, such as legalizing gay marriage, when it’s not a huge issue to worry about. This post is not to debate about gay marriage. I completely support anyone if it makes them happy. Isn’t that what we’re all searching for in life? Happiness? We let issues bring us down that sometimes don’t even affect us. Let people live the way they want to live. Every single person is struggling with some type of battle and we forget about that most of the time. Love is the movement. Take away your fear and you’ll go far in life. Times change pretty quickly and I understand it’s difficult to adapt, but worrying about yourself is all you really need to do. (Even that’s not the smartest idea) Once you start letting others dictate your mood, you’re opening up the door to negativity and worries. How are you supposed to live a happy life now? Realize that change occurs constantly and realize that you are in control of how you feel. Live your life the way you want to but also let others live the way they want as well. Each and every one of us deserves to be happy.
Let go and move on.
This photo just says it all. You need an escape, somewhere you can go to be alone and figure everything out. Your mind is so powerful and endless. It’s capable of anything — so amazing to ponder about. If you’ve never tried meditating before, I highly suggest it. I personally guarantee your mood will improve or your mind will be less crowded.
No harm in trying. 🙂
This just hit one of my soft spots. Males and females should be treated equal (to a point). It’s not “gay” to do things only the opposite sex would do. We’ve become so corrupt into thinking that a gender is supposed to only do specific things. I love hearing about the few people who stand up for what they believe in. It takes so much courage and just makes you a stronger person.
