Yoga Is For Everyone

I’m sure all that has tried yoga can say that it’s not an easy practice. So picture an overweight or elderly person trying it. Way more difficult, right? Wrong. It doesn’t matter what size, shape, or age you are. Yoga is difficult for everyone in the beginning but with enough consecutive practice each week, anyone can do it up to par with each other. You learn to use your body. You learn to know when you’ve strained the muscles just enough. You also learn to use your mind. Concentrating on each pose and what you are experiencing in the present moment. As much as some people may disagree, yoga is for everybody. We see photos and articles of people holding certain difficult poses and we think we’ll never be able to hold them as well, but how do you think those people got to that point? Practice, practice, practice. If you practice right and practice well, you’ll go a long way. And hey, if the hulk can practice yoga, then so can you. 😉

“If there is pe…

“If there is peace in your mind you will find peace with everybody. If your mind is agitated you will find agitation everywhere. So first find peace within and you will see this inner peace reflected everywhere else. You are this peace! You are happiness, find out. Where else will you find peace if not within you?”

Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose)

Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose) (boo-jang-GAHS-anna): Probably one of my favorite poses in my yoga sequence. It’s one of the best poses to straighten out and stretch your back. Your back is such a sensitive part of your body. If you hurt it, you’ll notice just how much you use it constantly. Oh, the pain you’ll be in when you’re doing just the most basic everyday things. It’s very important to keep your back strengthened because it plays a huge role in your life.

Benefits:

  1. Strengthens your muscles in your shoulders, chest and core
  2. Opens your chest to help clear the passages of your heart and lungs
  3. Improves digestion
  4. Strengthens your spine

Listed above are a few of the major benefits I’ve noticed while practicing cobra pose in my sequence. It’s a very common pose in the Vinyasa Flow for beginners. If you haven’t already, I’d recommend finding a video on YouTube to start off with the basic poses. In the videos you will learn the cobra pose and I’m sure fall in love with it like I have!
